Compensation & Referral Relationships

Compensation

Clearstone may receive fees and commissions for its work. In many cases, lenders or insurers pay compensation rather than the client. Compensation arrangements and material conflicts are disclosed as required for the applicable service or transaction. For the fuller explanation, see How Clearstone Is Paid.

Referrals

Clearstone may participate in referral arrangements with other professionals. Where a referral creates a material compensation arrangement or conflict requiring disclosure, that information is provided to the affected client. A referral does not change the licensing or professional responsibilities that apply to the service ultimately provided.

07

Smith Manoeuvre™

The Smith Manoeuvre is a borrowing-to-invest strategy. It carries real risk and is not suitable for everyone.

Borrowing to invest increases risk. Leverage magnifies both gains and losses, and loss of principal is possible. Whether the strategy is appropriate depends on individual circumstances.

Interest deductibility depends on how borrowed funds are used, on tracing, and on individual circumstances. Tax and legal questions may need advice from the client’s own qualified professionals.

Trademark & designation

Nicholas Gaudet holds the SMCP™ designation.

Verification pending: Trademark and licence attribution is pending written confirmation from the applicable rights holder or administrator.
